Delhi to Bikaner Road Trip via NH52: Complete 2026 Guide

By Mangalam Hotel·30 May 2026·7 min read

Delhi to Bikaner is one of the classic Rajasthan road trips — a 540–560 km journey that takes you from the chaos of the capital into the open, sun-bleached landscapes of western Rajasthan. The NH52 route (via Jaipur or directly via Rewari–Jhunjhunu) is the most popular option.

Most people rush through and miss everything worth seeing. Here's how to do it properly.

Route Options: Delhi to Bikaner

Option 1: Via Jaipur and NH52 (Recommended)

Delhi → Jaipur → NH52 → Sikar → Laxmangarh → Fatehpur → Sujangarh → Bikaner

Distance: ~560–580 km  |  Time: 9–10 hours (non-stop)

This is the longer route but passes through Jaipur (worth an overnight stop) and the scenic Shekhawati region. Recommended for road trippers who want to see Rajasthan, not just reach Bikaner.

Option 2: Via Rewari–Jhunjhunu–Sikar

Delhi → NH48 → Rewari → NH11 → Jhunjhunu → Sikar → Laxmangarh → NH52 → Bikaner

Distance: ~520–540 km  |  Time: 8–9 hours (non-stop)

Faster but less scenic until you hit the Shekhawati belt near Jhunjhunu.

Best Stops on Delhi to Bikaner via NH52

Jhunjhunu (Shekhawati Gateway)

If you're taking the northern route, Jhunjhunu is the entry point into the Shekhawati belt — famous for its painted havelis with extraordinary frescoes. The Rani Sati Temple here is also a major pilgrimage site. Worth a 1–2 hour stop.

Laxmangarh — Best Food Stop (~320 km from Delhi)

Laxmangarh on NH52 is approximately 320 km from Delhi (via the direct Rewari–Sikar route) — a natural lunch stop or overnight base. The town has beautiful havelis and the Laxmangarh Fort overlooking the highway.

Mangalam Hotel & Restaurant on the NH52 Laxmangarh bypass is the best dining option on this stretch. 100% pure vegetarian, open 24 hours, with a full menu — North Indian thali, Dal Baati Churma, South Indian, chaat, and La Carimali espresso coffee. Ample parking for all vehicle sizes.

If you're doing an overnight break (recommended for the Delhi–Bikaner distance), Mangalam Hotel has AC rooms from ₹1,300 with 24-hour check-in.

Fatehpur — Shekhawati's Heritage Centrepiece

Fatehpur, 45 km after Laxmangarh on NH52, is arguably the finest town for Shekhawati haveli tourism. The Nadine Le Prince Cultural Centre (restored haveli with exceptional frescoes) is a must-stop if you have 2–3 hours. The Goenka Haveli and Jagannath Singhania Haveli are also remarkable.

Salasar Balaji Detour (from Sujangarh)

Just before Bikaner, the Sujangarh turn-off takes you 15 km to Salasar Balaji. If you haven't visited this famous Hanuman temple, this is an easy add-on to the Delhi–Bikaner drive. The detour adds only 30 minutes to your total journey time.

Tips for the Delhi–Bikaner Drive

  • Start early: Leave Delhi by 5–6 AM to avoid city traffic and arrive at Bikaner before dark
  • Or split it: Delhi → Laxmangarh (overnight) → Bikaner the next morning is a far more comfortable approach
  • Fuel: Delhi, Rewari, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Laxmangarh, and Bikaner all have multiple petrol stations. Don't skip Laxmangarh — stations are sparse towards Sujangarh
  • Food: Pack snacks from Delhi for the Rewari–Jhunjhunu section where options are basic. Laxmangarh has the best full-service meal stop on the route
  • Accommodation: Bikaner has good options at all price points. Heritage hotels near Junagarh Fort book quickly in winter season — reserve in advance

What to Do in Bikaner

  • Junagarh Fort — one of the best-preserved forts in Rajasthan, never conquered
  • Karni Mata Temple, Deshnok — the famous Rat Temple, 30 km from Bikaner
  • National Research Centre on Camel — unique attraction, camel rides and products
  • Bikaneri bhujia and sweets — Haldiram's and local shops; buy in bulk to take home
  • Gajner Palace Lake — beautiful heritage hotel with a lake, 32 km from Bikaner

The Delhi to Bikaner road trip rewards patience and curiosity. Stop more than you plan to. The Shekhawati havelis alone justify the drive.
